I'm not quite sure how we are over a week into the trip and have completely failed to post. I guess because we've been having fun and seeing friends. Driving up to Steamboat Springs was beautiful - aspens changing to yellow, antelope, and even a tumbleweed to add to the Western flair. I have to admit that my reaction to the many, many remnants of mining visible from the road was, "Thank goodness I don't have to inventory those historical properties."
We attended a wedding that followed excellent Covid protocols. Every guest tested and milled about outdoors and distanced for the requisite 15 minutes. One person popped a positive, re-tested, and excused himself from the event. Hilariously, he was an introvert who was pretty excited to have a reason for just holing up with a book. The rest of us ate his share of the delicious food (yay lamb!).
We spent a few extra days enjoying the company of the happily wedded couple Erica and Greg before they head out for their honeymoon. More enjoyment of aspens, bugling elk, and the lovely locale.
