Where Did the Summer Go?!?

Goodness, it has been a long time since I've added things here! We arrived back in Anchorage in June and then just....lived. We've spent time with our friends and family, dog sat Kinley (twice, including over the 4th of July. She did great.), camped out at SalmonFest, and otherwise enjoyed ourselves.

The biggest change seems to be that the clinical trial may have had a positive effect on my symptoms (at least some of them). The brain fog is largely lifted, I'm sleeping a bit better, and I am less fatigued. Along with that has come some real gains in reading ability. So a lot of the summer has been spent running to the library and whittling down my to be read list. Tho realistically it only grows..

It's already snowing here (23 inches so far!) and we are planning our winter exit. we are a month away from flying out to Seattle, then Paris, then Nice. We'll be celebrating Carnival in Nice, hopefully in sunshine and warmth. We've had a dearth of that. The summer was a bit gray and rainy. Good for tamping down wildfires, and sellers of Vitamin D, but a little dreary.

Looking Backward - March 8-28

Since I failed to blog from mid-February to April there are big gaps to fill in. I'll get to the remainder of our time in Europe shortly. But a quick update on what we did after that: we went home. For three weeks. In March, when the weather was mediocre, and it continued to snow, and melt, and rain, and otherwise not show Alaska at its best. Good lord there is so much moose poop around our home.

So, why? Mostly because we are juggling a lot of things medically - the RECOVER Study appointments followed by the clinical trial - which will keep us in the Lower 48 for a big chunk of time. But in Alaska we needed to complete civic, financial, and medical chores as well. That is to say, we voted, did our taxes, and I got my second shingles vaccine. 

We were also honored to be invited to our friend Renee's naturalization ceremony. Renee was born a New Zealander, but as of March 15 she is a proud American. There was even some singing.

This lady blocked my walk for a while....
